Muddy Coffee

This is a page about "muddy" coffee, a.k.a cowboy coffee. It can be made with any coffee (espresso, filter, etc) though Turkish coffee works best. The finer the grind the better.

This is the laziest way I know to make coffee, and is also my favourite. It's similar to coffee made with a french press, but more acidic.

For what it's worth, the real way to make Turkish coffee is by cooking it in a special pot. This way is not it.

Preparation

  1. Put one heaped spoon of coffee in a glass.
  2. a heaped spoon with ground coffee about to be put in a glass ground coffee at the bottom of a glass
  3. Add boiling water.
  4. water kettle being turned on boiling water added to coffee
  5. Stir vigorously. If you like sugar or milk, this is when people add them.
  6. coffee being stirred
  7. Wait for grounds to settle (about 2 minutes). When drinking, stop right before the grounds, or you will have an unpleasant experience.
  8. coffee grounds settling at bottom of cup

Cleanup

Just rinse the cup from the coffee, and then clean normally. The grounds don't clog drains.
